this lovely artist is sandra van doorn
“i always loved the idea of living in a fairytale. (without the witches of course).
i draw for a living and my work sits in that blurred line somewhere between reality and imagination – a place where anything is possible.
when i created mademoiselle i really wanted to celebrate uniqueness.
being different – sometimes a little strange – is what makes us truly beautiful (i am sure you all agree).
for most of my work i use an IKEA pencil (yes the one you get for free), derwent colorsoft pencils, soft pastels, left over bits of papers, some digital collage and a lot of my own emotions.
i then let mademoiselle come to life on my paper, i never really plan what i am going to draw, but i do hope you like it as much i love creating it!”

ditto ditto ditto, dear sandra. x
Thank you for sharing the beautiful art of my beautiful friend! I love Sandra’s work and have followed her for a long time now. And Mademoiselle brings such a comfort when I see her…a pretty, friendly and familiar face.
i’m so glad to share our mutual sandra love, lisa! x
I love that she uses the free ikea pencils
and the amazing whimsy she taps into from her own unique
and quite beautiful
spirit:)
what joy her work brings.
thanks for sharing, dear Rachel:)
